Octopus paul reportedly hatched January 2008 and dies October 2010. Paul was a common octopus living in a tank at a sea life centre in Oberhausen, Germany, despite originally being from Weymouth in England. Paul became internationally famous for correctly predicting the winner of Germany's seven matches at the 2010 World cup, as well as the final. Paul had reached octopus old age of two and half years and died in his tank on Tuesday morning in an aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen, spokeswoman Ariane Vieregge said.
Paul seemed to be in good shape when he was checked late Monday, but he did not make it through the night. He died of natural causes, Ariane Vieregge added.
The prophetic cephalopod's brief but extraordinary life is unlikely to be forgotten.
